Animal Tracks

Text of Poem

There is a tiger hid
          in each seed’s growth
and in its flower a lamb,
          I see them both

Frolic on lawns of love
          and I feel bound
to learn how they contend
          in flesh as ground.

I find a jungle still
          unmapped in the blood
where outside the stockade wall
          my heelprints stamp the mud.
