Sight by Blindfold
Sight by Blindfold
I walked up the knoll
through the trees
to the cemetery and talked
with the dead.
They answered with names and dates,
I saw life ended on a name
and two dates.
I came to you to ask
if our faces marked with
shared tears, shared laughter
say nothing to us beyond
such simple history
and your hands over my eyes
gave me an answer
you never had to learn.
