Late For The News

Text of Poem

Last week you said
it depresses me to look
ahead and see what
I’m doing now without end.

I tried to console you
with a new spring dress
to show you a brighter color
I hoped for you.

But you said, for God’s sake
look at the clock, we’ll be
late for the news.
